Grab your current read
Open to a random page
Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

I am doing a slightly different version of Teaser Tuesday. Since I go through books so quickly, I'm going to put a quote from any book I've read in the past week.

I forgot to do a TT post last week, so this is two weeks of Teasers!

"Ani took a few more painful steps forward and performed her deepest curtsy, the one her tutor years ago had told her was for royalty only. No tutor could have prepared her for meeting a king no longer as Anidori-Kiladra of Kilendree, but as a forest girl in hand-me-down boy's boots, charcoal-darkened eyebrows, and an imitated accent." - The Goose Girl, by Shannon Hale

"The first one, looking round, saw a hollow in his bed and cried, 'Who has been lying on my bed?'
And the others came running and cried, 'Someone has been in our beds too!'" – Tales from Grimm and Andersen, by The Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen; excerpt from "Snow-White and the Seven Dwarfs" by The Brothers Grimm (highlight to view title, but guess first!)

"Poppa never had been one to give up easy, even up against the power of Aunt Dinah. In fact, Poppa never gave up on anything once he'd set his mind to it, and he told Momma so then and there." - Savvy, by Ingrid Law

"I slipped out of his room, hoping he'd sleep another couple of hours, and crawled into my own bed. But I tossed and turned, and no matter how much I tried, I couldn't block out the dream that had woken me in the first place." - The Lost Saint, by Bree Despain

"'If it isn't Wayland North, finally back to make an honest living!' came a voice behind us, a deep baritone. 'That is, if you're really here for business.'" - Brightly Woven, by Alexandra Bracken

"she used to dream one day of attending a performance, of dressing in a dazzling gown, hair bejeweled, of seeing the actors rather than imagining them. Her father's illness had stamped out those dreams." - The Clockwork Three, by Matthew J. Kirby

"Niko came for Tris when the storm was just beginning to make itself heard. She was pacing the main room nervously, wanting badly to go outside before the winds swept over the walls." - Sandry's Book, by Tamora Pierce

"Students playing with their magic, he decided. Who else would try invisibility spells in the Hub in the middle of the day?" - Tris's Book, by Tamora Pierce

"Had the new arrivals been Tris or Rosethorn, Daja would have gotten angry all over again, because that is what one did when they were around. Instead, she tried to smile when Lark slipped into the pool." - Daja's Book, by Tamora Pierce

"When Briar sat up, she said quietly, 'Get all the sleep you can. You'll need it.'" - Briar's Book, by Tamora Pierce

"He hesitated for a moment. 'Good luck – Alan.'" - Alanna: The First Adventure, by Tamora Pierce

"Jon glance at Alanna, smiling ironically, and she immediately guessed what he had in mind. It would be a brilliant tactical stroke if I could pull it off, she thought." - In the Hand of the Goddess, by Tamora Pierce

"Myles hugged her around the shoulders. 'You're brave, to admit you don't know everything and then do something about it.'" - The Woman Who Rides Like a Man, by Tamora Pierce

"While the Wandering Bard seemed respectable, she'd been traveling long enough to know she could never be too prepared. Adjusting her sword–so she'd have room to draw it if necessary–she settled back to enjoy her meal." - Lioness Rampant, by Tamora Pierce

I am doing a slightly different version of Teaser Tuesday. Since I go through books so quickly, I'm going to put a quote from any book I've read in the past week.

"It's almost as if my watch knows it's the center of attention. A strident clicking emanates from it, and then an extraordinary thing happens." – Corsets and Clockwork, edited by Trisha Telep; excerpt from "Under Amber Skies" by Maria V. Snyder

"Clambering along the narrow headland, slipping on slimy seaweed and frightening off a pair of seals, the Company of Explorers headed inland for the bruised and purple moors swelling into view. In the very far distance they could see the tiny outline of Neverpeak, the goal of their journey." – Peter Pan in Scarlet, by Geraldine McCaughrean

"Against the clouds, Ky's eyes seem lighter, reflecting the gray around them, and I have an unsettling thought: perhaps his eyes have no color. They reflect what he wears, what the Officials tell him to be." - Matched, by Ally Condie

"As soon as the first room was empty, the spinners went on to the second, and finally they went on to the third, which like the others was quickly cleared of flax. Then the three women took leave of the girl, saying to her as they parted, 'Do not forget the promise you made us, for it will bring you good fortune.'" – Tales of Grimm and Andersen, by The Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen; excerpt from "The Three Spinning Fairies" by The Brothers Grimm

"If you've ever been for a long time without anything like enough sleep, you know that you get pretty non compos pretty soon. I was forgetting things the moment Billy said them and couldn't really think of anything but feeding the dragonlet." – Dragonhaven, by Robin McKinley

I am doing a slightly different version of Teaser Tuesday. Since I go through books so quickly, I'm going to put a quote from any book I've read in the past week.

"Within, I found the most amazing spectacle – a court of dancers, some in harlequin rags and leather masks, others in torn velvet and donkey ears. The music I had heard came in part from a giant music box, its immense gears ticking in metronomic precision, but there were also more vibrant airs granted by live musicians on pipes and flutes, spurring the carousers to greater exuberance." – Corsets and Clockwork, edited by Trisha Telep; excerpt from "Wild Magic" by Ann Aguire

"Little did they know (or care) that back in their various homes, on dressing tables and bathroom sills, their abandoned wristwatches stopped at that exact same moment. For when a child is in Neverland, time should stand still." – Peter Pan in Scarlet, by Geraldine McCaughrean

"Then he caused twelve coffins to be made, and they were filled with shavings and a little pillow laid in each, and they were brought and put into a locked-up room. And the King gave the key to the Queen and told her to say nothing about it to anyone." – Tales of Grimm and Andersen, by The Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen; excerpt from "The Twelve Brothers" by The Brothers Grimm (bonus points if you can guess the story - highlight to view)

"Myriddin kept thinking of reasons why we should turn off the road and call in a scruffy settlements where he could exchange his songs and stories for a meal and place to sleep and a few cups of watered wine. "'Last night I dreamed I was playing water polo with the mermaids,' he said. 'This was on my pillow when I woke.'" - Peter Pan in Scarlet, by Geraldine McCaughrean

"School wasn't much changed from the year before. I still had difficulty with my spells - the fire-lighting spell went off like a Fourth of July sparkler without actually starting a fire, the spell for lightening loads sort of stuttered, so that the weight went from light to heavy and back, over and over, and the far-seeing spell didn't work at all." - Thirteenth Child, by Patricia C. Wrede

"The sleet blew sideways and tiny daggers of ice stung my face as I hurried through the storm. Irys was waiting for me in the receiving room just past the oversize tower entrance." - Fire Study, by Maria V. Snyder

That meant the college magicians had to open a hole in the barrier, long enough for the expedition to get everything across to our side of the Mammoth River." - Thirteenth Child, by Patricia C.
