Cover Reveal: Story's End

Last week, Marissa Burt revealed the cover for her upcoming sophomore novel, Story's End. Although I have not yet read the first book, Storybound, I have wanted a to pick up a copy since I first heard about it. Seeing the cover for this next installment makes me even more excited.

I love the way that this cover is illustrated and formatted. The castle is awesome, and I really like that the drawbridge goes outside of the circle, inviting the reader in. I also really like how this cover keeps the style of Storybound's cover but manages to create an entirely new atmosphere.

Summary (from Goodreads):
Long ago, a King ruled the land of Story....

During his reign, Heroes, Villains, and characters of all kinds lived out Tales filled with daring quests and epic struggles. Then the King disappeared, and over the years nearly everyone forgot that he had ever existed.

Now an evil Enemy has emerged, determined to write a new future for Story. And an ordinary girl from our world named Una Fairchild must find a way to defeat him.

Una and her friends Indy and Peter set off on a quest for answers, facing warlocks, beasts, and enchantments at every turn. But Una soon discovers that the real key lies in her own mysterious ties to Story’s past—and to the long-forgotten King who may be their only hope for survival.

Storybound has been praised by Kirkus Reviews for its “richly imagined world” and by Publishers Weekly as “an appealing fantasy with strong writing and interesting characters.” Story’s End is filled with the same breathtaking action, heartwarming friendship, and timeless appeal. Readers will leap at the chance to return to this captivating fairy-tale world, which is perfect for fans of Inkheart, Gail Carson Levine, and classics like A Wrinkle in Time.

I also can't wait to get a copy of Storybound, which came out earlier year. It sounds so great! I really need to push it up my TBR. Here is the summary:

In the land of Story, children go to school to learn to be characters: a perfect Hero, a trusty Sidekick, even the most dastardly Villain. They take classes on Outdoor Experiential Questing and Backstory, while adults search for full-time character work in stories written just for them.

In our world, twelve-year-old Una Fairchild has always felt invisible. But all that changes when she stumbles upon a mysterious book buried deep in the basement of her school library, opens the cover, and suddenly finds herself transported to the magical land of Story.

But Story is not a perfect fairy tale. Una’s new friend Peter warns her about the grave danger she could face if anyone discovers her true identity. The devious Tale Keeper watches her every move. And there are whispers of a deadly secret that seems to revolve around Una herself....

With the timeless appeal of books like A Wrinkle in Time and the breathtaking action of Inkheart, Storybound has all the makings of a new classic. Brimming with fantastical creatures, magical adventure, and heart-stopping twists, Storybound will leave readers wishing they too could jump through the pages into this enchanting fairy-tale world.

Cover Reveal for Shades of Earth

On Friday, Razorbill revealed the cover for the last book in Beth Revis's Across the Universe trilogy, Shades of Earth. With the new cover, they also revealed a new repackaged version of covers for the entire series. There will not a be a cover for Shades of Earth in the original style.

I personally don't care too much for the new covers on this series. I would much prefer to have the old covers, and a matching old-style cover for Shades of Earth. The beautiful cover of Across the Universe is one of the things that drew me to this series in the first place. I am, however, very very excited to finally be able to see a cover for this upcoming book.

The original cover for Across the Universe

Here is the summary of Shades of Earth, from Goodreads.
Amy and Elder have finally left the oppressive walls of the spaceship Godspeed behind. They're ready to start life afresh--to build a home--on Centauri-Earth, the planet that Amy has traveled 25 trillion miles across the universe to experience. But this new Earth isn't the paradise that Amy had been hoping for. Amy and Elder must race to uncover who--or what--else is out there if they are to have any hope of saving their struggling colony and building a future together. But as each new discovery brings more danger, Amy and Elder will have to look inward to the very fabric of what makes them human on this, their most harrowing journey yet. Because if the colony collapses? Then everything they have sacrificed--friends, family, life on Earth--will have been meaningless.

Cover Reveal for Scarlet

What timing! Just after I posted my Judge a Book by Its Cover for Cinder, marveling over the great aspects of Marissa Meyer's first book in The Lunar Chronicles, the cover is revealed for the next installment: Scarlet.

So far I have only been able to find a small picture, but the cover looks great! I can't wait to continue reading this series.

I love that it keeps the same color palette and style as the first book, and, like Cinder, it features an iconic image from the story on which it is based without revealing too much about the contents of the book and certainly not turning into the so-oft-used "pretty girl cover."

Here is the summary (from Goodreads).
This isn't the official summary, but it is what is up for now:
Book two [of the Lunar Chronicles], Scarlet, is based on Little Red Riding Hood. It continues Cinder’s story as she attempts to escape Queen Levana’s vengeance and learn more about her past. The story also introduces readers to Scarlet, a girl living in southern France whose grandmother has mysteriously disappeared. In order to find her, Scarlet seeks the help of Wolf, a street fighter with more than a few mysteries of his own.

Here is the summary:

All Cole wants is to find his queen - and he thinks Nikki is the one. Both determined, both desperate, Nikki and Cole form a tense alliance, leading them on a dangerous journey to The Heart of The Everneath.

Be on the lookout for my review of Everneath on Wednesday.

Cover Reveal for The Archived

On Sunday, the cover for Victoria Schwab's upcoming novel, The Archived was revealed. I loved The Near Witch and I am super excited for this newest work.

Here is the summary:

Each body has a story to tell, a life seen in pictures that only Librarians can read. The dead are called Histories, and the vast realm in which they rest is the Archive.

Da first brought Mackenzie Bishop here four years ago, when she was twelve years old, frightened but determined to prove herself. Now Da is dead, and Mac has grown into what he once was, a ruthless Keeper, tasked with stopping often-violent Histories from waking up and getting out. Because of her job, she lies to the people she loves, and she knows fear for what it is: a useful tool for staying alive.

Being a Keeper isn't just dangerous-it's a constant reminder of those Mac has lost. Da's death was hard enough, but now her little brother is gone too. Mac starts to wonder about the boundary between living and dying, sleeping and waking. In the Archive, the dead must never be disturbed. And yet, someone is deliberately altering Histories, erasing essential chapters. Unless Mac can piece together what remains, the Archive itself might crumble and fall.

In this haunting, richly imagined novel, Victoria Schwab reveals the thin lines between past and present, love and pain, trust and deceit, unbearable lost and hard-won redemption.

DOESN'T THAT SOUND AWESOME??
