I’m an incurable bookworm. I started Pica Reads in April of 2010 because I thought it would be nice to have a place to write down a few thoughts about every book I read. I had no idea it would snowball into the blog I have today. More than a year later, I’m still blogging, and I’ve added more and more to the blog as well as developing my writing style.
My internet name, Pica, comes from a typewriter font called Pica. I love typewriters (I own the one in my header picture), and so this name worked perfectly for me. "Pica pica" is also the scientific name for a magpie, which is where I get the name "Bookbird" on the creative writing blog I share with my friend Mars, The Bookbird and the Wordgirl, and is also a unit of measurement used in graphic design and publishing (although that is pronounced pie-ka rather than pe-ka).If you would like to contact me, I can be reached by email at picareads [at] gmail [dot] com.
